Mold Remediation

Health problems associated with high levels of airborne mold spores include allergic reactions. asthma episodes, irritations of the eye, nose, and throat, sinus congestion, and other respiratory problems, although it should be noted that mold spores won't actually cause asthma but can irritate existing conditions. For example, residents of homes with mold are at an elevated risk for both respiratory infections and bronchitis.

Cascade Services Company Inc. services provide complete inspection, cleanup, remediation, and clearance sampling for water and microbial damage.

Our Mold Remediation Process

Pre-Remediation

Depending on the size of the contamination area, Cascade Services Company Inc. will implement protection and containment measures to prevent mold/spore release and spread of contamination to other areas. Cascade Services Company Inc. will open and inspect representative structural components to estimate the extent of mold growth and determine the best remediation approach.

Mold Remediation Process

After water intrusion sources have been repaired, water will be removed from hard surfaces by soaking or mopping. In cases of large volumes of water, it may be necessary to actively pump out standing water or use wet vacuums.

Drying and Moisture Control
Once excess water is removed, Cascade Services Company Inc. will utilize the appropriate complement of fans, air-moving devices, or dehumidifiers to promote evaporation and help drive off moisture.

Contamination Type and Strategy
Mold cleanup and remediation strategies will depend on the type of contamination. For instance, 'Black Water Contamination' (unsanitary, pathogenic water, sewer, storm flooding) will require a more rigorous cleaning and decontamination routine than 'Clean Water Contamination' (broken water supply lines, roof leak, condensate from high humidity).

Mold Cleanup Methods

Mold cleanup methods could include wet or extraction vacuuming, damp wiping, HEPA vacuuming, and use of antimicrobial pesticides where appropriate and necessary.

Post Remediation

A certified third party Inspector will perform post-remediation clearance activities to include: visual assessment to ensure site is free of visible mold growth, moldy odors, and free from visible dust and debris.

If clearance sampling is performed, only background types and concentrations of mold, similar to those found outside, should remain.

Project Supervision

Cascade Services Company Inc.  provides a certified project supervisor for every project. Our qualified project supervisors have practical experience in all facets of mold remediation, including project planning, work practices, protection of workers, and project close-out procedures. Project supervisors are also trained in the areas of protective clothing, respirator inspection and fit testing, containment practices, construction of decontamination facilities, and glove-bag procedures.

Our project supervisors have been trained and certified in mold contamination cleanup and disposal procedures per  Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Competent Person requirements and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requirements.
